Light Rigid Licence

Course Outline

This accredited VicRoads course is designed for drivers seeking to upgrade their licence to obtain a Light Rigid Vehicle Licence. A Light Rigid vehicle is described as any rigid vehicle, including truck or bus, greater than 4.5 tonnes GVM or seating more than 12 adults including the driver.

 

*** Course duration and costs do not at any time guarantee that the "On-road" Licence assessment will occur. Students MUST firstly meet all competency requirements, if not, training will continue for the duration of the course and the assessment will be scheduled at an alternate time and additional costs will apply. ***

Program is conducted over 1 day

Training consists of theory training and Secure Cargo assessment, followed by on & off road training. Once deemed satisfactory the VicRoads Licence assessment will be conducted as per VicRoads regulations.

Participants must:

  •  Hold a current Victorian Motor Car Licence.
  • Have held their car licence for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Provide primary and secondary proof of identification prior to course commencement.
  • Eyesight test conducted by Aust-Link.
  • Must notify staff of any medical conditions/medication taken.
  • Purchase and be familiar with the Vic Roads Bus and Truck Driver handbook.
  • Be able to drive a car fitted with a manual transmission

Participant must provide a Light Rigid Vehicle conforming to Vic Roads licence testing requirement. This checklist can be obtained from the Aust-Link office.

Please note training is for a minimum of 2 Days, which consists of training and assessment. If further training is required additional arrangements must be made with Aust-Link staff. Aust-Link will issue a Statement of Attainment to successful participant on completion of this course.
